Measurement and sonification of construction site noise and particle pollution data

Purpose The noise and dust particles caused by the construction transport are most stakeholders experienced as disturbing. purpose of this study is to explore how sonification can support visualization in planning decrease disturbances. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents an interdisciplinary research project, combining on logistics, internet things sonification. First, a data recording device, including sound, particle, temperature humidity sensors, was implemented deployed development project. Second, collected were used design, which was, third, evaluated with potential users. Findings results showed that low-cost sensors could capture “good enough” data, use for representing these interesting possible useful tool urban planning. Research limitations/implications There need further evolve design better communicate aim sounds Further testing also needed. Practical implications introduces new ideas work its impact vicinity site. Currently, focus visualizing final result, little handle disturbances during process. Originality/value Showing potentials using sensor sonification, together visualization, result novel area combination.
